Clare Smoor is originally from Ireland and now lives in Dundee on the east coast of Scotland.

Farming, gardening and looking after an old house in the Angus countryside over several decades left little time to translate her love of colour into paint. The opportunity to do this has come in the last few years.

When not painting, she enjoys guerilla gardening, walking her dogs and exploring the locality on her electric bicycle.

“I work mainly in oils because I love their feel and how they can be manipulated on the canvas. I particularly enjoy working with palette knives for the wonderful marbled effects that can be achieved.  I have done a lot of photography in the past, which has proved useful in my painting composition, as framing a view has become second nature.”
